A Kata, meaning “form”, is a detailed, choreographed pattern of movements designed to be practiced alone or with groups when training. Katas are used as a way to practice and perfect the movements used within a system of martial arts. They are a good way to stay active, and can be a fun way to exhibit knowledge and skills.

This class is an hour-long session where students have the opportunity to learn open-hand forms as well as weapon katas. Each class starts with a warm-up and a detailed curriculum, followed by time to practice at one’s own pace. Every weapon cycle starts with a breakdown of terminology and basic weapon movements to emphasize control and safety.
